Nero - Berial (M2)

Lazy Capcom III. *Whistles*

Human / Devil Hunter modes

  1. Unlike Nero who’s slow, Dante feels really fast compared to Berial. Like with Echidna, you can either spam Aerial Rave or Full House (Killer Bee) rebounds (requires the ability Enemy Step) on Berial’s face or butt. Jump/side roll away when you see him attack.

  2. Do that enough and his flames will extinguish, leaving him open to further Aerial Rave or Full House rebounds, or better yet, DT'ed Real Impact (Gilgamesh: R1 + back + O) until he gets up to recover (he recovers a lot faster this time). Run and jump away from the explosion in time to avoid it. If you feel like you can't make it in time, quickly switch to Trickster and hopefully Sky Star will save you.

  3. If he punches the ground to summon fire pillars, run and jump away. (Run to avoid the pillars, jump to avoid Berial's sword swing which comes with the fire pillars.) Repeat the above steps to victory.

  4. If you're experiencing some trouble, the problem might just be impatience. I know he looks temping to whack over and over but it could help to slow down and watch out for evasion before going back to the offense again.

Sons of Sparda / Dante Must Die modes

  1. Since Berial does pretty drastic damage this time round, you might want to play safe this time instead of charging head on. To do this you can safely abuse Drive + Over Drive from afar until his flames go out.

  2. Now you can run up to him for some close combat, but be careful of Berial's attacks as well. Hit him as much as possible try to get him to collapse. DT'ed Stinger works very well.

  3. If he collapses, try doing Gilgamesh's Real Impact at his face for crazy damage, better yet if DT'ed. Otherwise, anything with Rebellion and Gilgamesh should work fine anyway.

  4. When Berial gets back up, quickly switch to Trickster and dash + Sky Star away to safety from his explosion. Then repeat the above steps to victory.

Pandora's Box strategy

While I was playing around with Pandora's Box against bosses I found that it works really well against Berial on the harder modes. It's probably not the best for style, but it's best for playing safe.

  1. Once battle begins, switch to Trickster and repeat doing Pandora's Revenge (the mega-laser attack). You can do that for about 3~4 times before Berial gets too close for comfort.

  2. When that happens, carefully run away from him and keep to the perimeter of the battlefield. Use Trickster's Sky Star for easy evasion.

  3. Once far away from him again, spam Revenge and or Jealousy (the mid-air gatling gun) a few more times and Berial's flames will go out. You can also do Grief for variation if you want but it renders you vulnerable for some time and uses a bit of your disaster gauge so you won't be able to spam it.

  4. Eventually, Berial will either do the small or large explosion to regain his flames. Use that time while he's busy to do this, assuming you've continued to keep your distance from him: switch to Gunslinger, DT and do Pandora's Argument (missile factory) - this will be your main attack strategy.

Once done, switch back to Trickster so that you can do Sky Star for evasion again. Switch back to Gunslinger only when you're ready to do another Argument.

  5. After that, Berial is likely to close in on you slowly again so repeat steps 2 and 3 until you've refilled enough of your disaster gauge for another Argument. If you must do Argument without waiting for him to explode, you can do it when you're far enough and his back is facing you. (This usually happens when he does his fiery launch attack and you run to one side before Sky Star'ing to avoid)

If you just released Argument but Berial's already preparing to launch, the best way to reduce damage/save yourself is to switch to Trickster while remaining in DT and mash O for Sky Star. If you're lucky, you'll Sky Star in time to avoid Berial. If you're unlucky, at least DT will save you from being knocked back and you take a lot less damage.

  6. If by luck Berial collapses and you're close enough, switch to Swordmaster and you can now run up to him for some close combat with Rebellion or Gilgamesh. If you can get in a DT'ed Real Impact at Berial's face, your style gauge will rise very quickly. If you're too far, do Argument if you have enough disaster gauge.

  7. When Berial proceeds to get up, switch to Trickster and Sky Star away. If you think you're a little too slow to avoid the upcoming explosion, DT and double-Sky Star away. Then repeat the above steps to victory.
