*Whistles* Credo is a fun one (with a nice battle theme to boot!), though for first-timers he may be annoying...
Strategy version 2:
- First, do not abuse Nero’s snatch like you could with the previous bosses. Snatching Credo randomly will provoke him to do an automatic charge with his shield at you, resulting in backfire.
- His shield will guard him from most direct attacks, so it’s no use trying to fight him head on. However, it IS possible to exploit that wisely. *Evil grins*
- Since he blocks practically each time you blindly attack him, you can exploit this by purposely hitting him while he's on guard, and then double jump away to safety when he attacks. Credo's recovery speed is very slow; you can easily attack him once as he's recovering (e.g. with Streak), and then immediately Buster him while he's open. Of course, you can choose to attack normally instead but I don't like getting parried when I'm trying to attack. ^^;
- After Buster, you can then follow up with a Charged Shot (LV3 would be awesome) if you've been charging the gun as you attack. (It'll be nice to keep it a habit to keep charging the gun at all times. It'll require you to hold the controller in an awkward manner to do this though, or, you can switch [] with R2)
- Next, you will find that Credo sometimes throws his lance at you. He'll do it a total of 3 times in a row if you dodge it (side roll/jump). You can counter him when this happens, but you’ll need accurate timing to perform your counter by pressing O for Buster a little earlier before the lance hits you (Nero’s demon arm must be fully raised).
If the timing is right, Nero will grab the lance and throw it back at Credo (remember to HOLD R1 for target lock-on after Buster'ing the lance!), damaging and immobilizing him for a while. *Dances happily* Then, run straight for Credo for a combo or another Buster.
- If Credo is dizzied (you can tell cause' he droops over a bit), DT Buster him. Remember to mash O for maximum damage during the sequence.
- One more interesting thing is, instead of side rolling or catching the lance, do a snatch at Credo just as he throws the lance and the clash will crush the lance, leaving behind a very small green orb. It’s probably not enough to heal you at all, though. LOL.
- One last move is one familiar to those who’ve played DMC1 and 3 – Sword Storm. (Lazy Capcom) What he does is he summons a bunch of swords that’ll circle around you for a while before they shoot. There are a couple more different sword formations but to avoid, jump anyway. However, at the same watch out for Credo himself as he's likely to attack the same time as the swords.
- Credo become a lot more aggressive after taking his health down to about 30%. He will then start to do sudden charges and attacks at you, so always be on the look out to jump. All you need to do is to raise your defense a little, but the way of offense is still the same as steps 3-6.
