Fast traveling
Dante runs moderately fast, but to speed things up a little more, you might as well abuse the dodge (O) button and travel all the way like that. It may make Dante look retarded but hey, you save a good amount of time. =P

Ignore optional enemies
90% of the enemies you encounter in DMC2 are optional. If you wish to save time or beat the game ASAP, just run past them. |
|
Free gold orbs
NEVER buy gold orbs!! Why buy them when you can get them for FREE?!? You can only hold a maximum of 1 gold orb but if you've used it and need it again, simply replay mission 1 and grab the free gold orb along the streets. You don't even have to clear the mission - just save after getting it. |
|
Refilling Devil Trigger
Abuse those DT-refilling platforms every time you see them. If there're enemies attacking you, DT and kill them off. Refill afterwards. Awesome eh? =P

Easing Secret Missions Difficulty
The secret missions in DMC2 get harder as the level increases. Eventually you'll be fighting bosses, sometimes even a few at once. If you want to ease the difficulty, start doing them from DMD > Hard > Normal so that the hardest levels would be fought on normal mode. |
|
Gun Upgrades
The guns are highly overpowered in DMC2 and it's really all you ever need to beat/own the game. When you feel like upgrading your weapons, prioritize the guns, especially the handguns and missile launcher. |

Orb farming
In need of red orbs? Simply replay mission 8 (Furiataurus battle) on normal over and over. The least and most you can get is probably a B and that alone will earn you 4000 orbs in 1 minute. After that, save, reset and repeat. For Lucia, replay mission 9 (Arius battle) and that'll earn you 5000 orbs for a rank B. |
