Dante - Geryon (M12)

Preferred style: Trickster
  1. On the bridge:
    • If you prefer playing safe, stand to the left near the door behind you and keep shooting at the horse. If you've stood at the right 'spot', Geryon will not touch you even as he leaps through the door. If for some reason it's not working, just double jump over or Sky Star over it with Trickster. After running past you for about 4 times, Geryon will stop in the middle of the bridge doing nothing. There won't be enough time to get close for melee attacks so I recommend shoot-switching with Spiral and E&I.

Repeat this a few times and the bridge will collapse after Geryon loses 10-20% of his life, or when the bridge is destroyed by Geryon's arrows.

    • If you prefer playing aggressively, like me, try Helm Breaking right at the horse as he charges towards you. Timing has to be very accurate, but if you succeed, Geryon will fall over immediately and you can then attack freely until he gets up. When Geryon gets up, you'll see a huge red bubble appear. Double jump (+ Sky Star) away and let the horse run past below.

What happens if you touch the bubble is that time will slow down and you'll have a higher probability of getting run over. Do this 2 times and the bridge battle will end.

  2. Now here's the 2nd stage of the battle. Geryon will charge at you before he starts circling the arena shooting arrows. You have 2 options:

    • 1st option - As he charges at you, jump ONTO Geyron's carriage, not the horse. This is not the easiest thing to do but timing and luck will help. If you manage to get on it, good. Lock on to the carriage and attack as much as you can without falling off.

However, Geryon doesn't run in circles forever. The moment he runs back to the center of the arena, jump off the carriage as you watch blue flames engulf it. Amost immediately after, Geryon will proceed to shoot arrows so run away from them.

    • 2nd option - If you prefer not to jump onto the carriage or that you missed it, this will be the time for you to shoot madly. Jump away whenever Geryon charges at you and keep shooting. All this time, be careful of his arrows. As you can see, shooting does LITTLE damage, but it helps refill your DT.

After a while, Geryon will run in your direction and that means DOUBLE JUMP (Air Hike is a must), and shoot to stay in mid-air for a bit until the horse passes below you. (Be careful of the trailing flames) Then immediately fall back down and run away from the arrows he'll shoot at you again.

  3. After the arrows are over, he'll stomp the ground and flames will rise. Double jump to avoid; the timing isn't hard. He'll do that twice and then stand there doing nothing. So quickly get close and attack until it falls over. (If it doesn't, it means you didn't hit it enough.) I recommend using Helm Breaker (or Killer Bee if you have acquired Beowulf) to make him fall. Also, use DT if you have it.

(Note that if you can do a Helm Breaker at Geryon before he stomps and summons flames a second time, he will fall over immediately.)

  4. After it falls, continue attacking until he disappears and time will slow down. Geryon will reappear charging at you from a distance, but don't worry. Even with slow motion, you should still be able to jump away from the horse in time.

  5. When Geryon's has 30~40% life left, red bubbles will start to appear in the arena. Get away from them to avoid slow motion. If you touch them, arrows will appear close by. They can be dodged by double jumping over them in time, or letting yourself fall to the ground depending on how high up above you the arrows are. (This part of the video demonstration is included only under Dante Must Die mode.)

  6. Geryon's last form of attack is written in step 5 under Dante Must Die mode below. I did not include it in this section because it rarely occurs in Normal mode. For more information, please read below.

          [Dante Must Die mode]
  1. Geryon shows no mercy in DMD mode. On the bridge, he charges at you while shooting arrows. Shoot all you can while he's still far away, and when he comes close, double jump over him. Be careful of the arrows Geryon may shoot backwards from the carriage.

  2. Both aggressive and play safe strategies written above under Normal mode still apply, but I won't recommend playing aggressive. In DMD mode, making even a single miss is life threatening. My advice would be to play safe and just keep shooting on the bridge.

  3. Also, unlike Normal mode, after running past you a few times, Geryon won't just stop and do nothing in the middle of the bridge. He will stop running, but he will continue to shoot arrows at you.

  4. In the arena as in Normal mode, Geryon will run in circles shooting arrows. This time, occasionally, he will run around not only in one circular direction. After running a few laps in, say, anti-clockwise direction, he may charge at you and then change to clockwise direction as he continues running and shooting arrows. Just one thing – be careful not to get run over.

  5. Like in Normal mode, Geryon will soon stop running, shoot arrows and stomp flames. The difference is that, sometimes, after giving him a few hits after he falls over, he'll get up quickly and a HUGE red bubble will appear, so JUMP AWAY from its range. Then, DOUBLE JUMP and shoot in mid-air as you watch him swing his carriage 360 degrees around the arena. Getting hit once by this ridiculous move would meaning losing more than 1 full bar of life, so be prepared.

  6. When Geryon's life goes down to about 40%, red bubbles will start appearing and they move pretty fast following you around. RUN, JUMP and GET AWAY from them. It priorities over shooting Geryon at this point. Unlike Normal mode, it can be hard to dodge the arrows that appear once you touch the bubbles and they damage about 2 segments of life each. Time slows down even more and Geryon tends to charge at you at the same time. That alone will cost at least half your entire life.
