Demons

Demons spawn from defeated enemies randomly, although there also are specific enemies at specific stages that will definitely spawn a demon. Defeating a demon will earn you a new technique at random. It is not compulsory to defeat a demon when it spawns; you can ignore it and move on to the next stage as long as the door to the next area is unlocked, or you already have the key.

Demon Arm Demon - Arms

The "arms" type demon is the very first one you deal with in the game in stage 1-1. It mostly stretches and swings its arms to attack, sometimes several times consecutively. Most of them are duck-able though, so it shouldn't prove too annoying.

What's annoying is that they love to teleport back and forth, especially towards your back where they'll try to grab you. So, rather than trying to chase them down, it might be easier to just wait for them to teleport over or towards your back and do a Counter (reaction attack) in time. At higher levels, they also shoot flying projectiles, which can be ducked but better side dodged since the projectiles mix in high and mid attacks.

Demon Sword Demon - Sword

The "sword" type demon is the second most common demon. It doesn't swing its arm around continuously like the arms type demon but it is still capable of stretching it out. Its most common attack is to swing it sword arm at you once or twice. Duck to avoid.

Some other attacks include a spinning/foward dash attack (side dodge to avoid) and jump attack where it jumps and swings its sword arm in mid-air. You can side dodge, back flip or even duck to avoid (depending on your distance from it). These demons also love to teleport towards your back but they can't grab you, which also means you can't counter them with the Counter reaction attack.

Demon Spikes Demon - Spiked

The "spiked" type demon is the one you have to be careful not to overly rely on duck-evade. Its most common attack is its spikes, which you'll have to back flip to avoid.

Like the sword type demons, these have a spinning dash attack, only, they're harder to time thanks to their spikes giving them a wider attack range. They can also perform arm swing attacks like the arm type demons, including the consecutive ones.

Demon Trident Demon - Trident

The trident demon is the only demon that looks uniquely different from the rest. It appears for the first time in stage 4-6. It also only rises from dead enemies rarely at LV Die.

It has a couple of annoying moves, which includes trident thrusts, whacks and eye lasers. The thrust attack can be avoided by back flipping but it's typically too fast for you to avoid in time. The whack often comes when you're still downed and vulnerable.

It does the eye laser attack usually when you're away from him. The beam from its eye will hurt you, but the gleaming line on the ground won't until it explodes. The best way to avoid this is to either get around the demon towards its back or back flip far away. This dude may seem very intimidating but he's really easy if you'd just get right in his face. Simply punch away and duck when he swings his trident, then punch him again (it'll result in a counter) before he swings again, rinse and repeat. You won't even need to unleash godhand.

One thing you do have to watch out for though, is his grab attack. At random times he will quickly grab and shake you sideways with both hands as if trying to rip you in half. O_o... It's seriously damaging and you can't struggle out. Theoretically, you should be able to back flip to avoid, but typically he does it so randomly and so quickly you can't see it coming.
