Hell
Vanguard
The god of death who manages dead souls.
He is feared by even inhabitants of the
netherworld for his wicked nature and
fighting prowess. A deadly sand-based
demon.
|
 |
 |
 |
First
appearance: Mission 2
Strategy:
Refer to boss
strategies.
|
|
|
|
Enigma
Basically created from a stone statue.
Given life via some unusual high level
magic incantation. This six-legged demon
targets foes from afar with his magical
bow.
|
 |
 |
 |
First
appearance: Mission 3
Strategy:
Avoid and attack. These 'level-up'
as you proceed into the game. They start
by shooting blue arrows. Later they shoot
red arrows. After their final level-up,
they shoot red arrows and evade very quickly
from you. When shooting red arrows, they
will not stop charging even when you hit
them, so facing them head on as they charge
can be risky. However, multiple-hit moves
like Cerberus' Revolver and Beowulf's
Lunar Phase are capable of breaking
the arrows and earning you stylish points
at the same time. The safest way, however,
is to throw them off their feet by shooting
with Kalina Ann or Spiral. |

|
|
Gigapede
Giant creature that made its way into
the Human world through a rift in the
time-space fabric. Relentlessly strikes
down foes with a high voltage attack.
|
 |
 |
 |
First
appearance: Mission 4
Strategy:
Refer to boss
strategies for mission 4. For Mission
8 inside Leviathan, keep running away
from it until it tries to bite you, then
double jump away and continue running.
With Vergil, use Trick Up. If
you wish to kill it, attack it when it
is 'stuck' around a bend. Sword Dance
for Dante and Aerial Rave for
Vergil are recommended. |
|
|
|
Blood-Goyle
Blood mixed with magically enchanted
stone gave birth to this wretched beast.
Multiplies whenever hit by close ranged
attacks. Its defense mechanism is weak
to modern-day weapons.
|
 |
 |
 |
First
appearance: Mission 5
Strategy:
DO NOT slash them with your melee
weapons when they're alive and flying.
If you happen to do so, they'll split
into two and multiply. Shoot them continuously
until they turn back into stone, then
slash the stone until it shatters. Note
that they can also multiply without getting
slashed. To prevent that from happening,
shoot them into stone before they split. |
|
|
|
Arachne
Once the soul of a human female, the
soul transformed when it reached the outer
crust of the netherworld. Uses her tightly
spun spider webbing to ensnare her victims.
|
 |
 |
 |
First
appearance: Mission 9
Strategy:
These are quick to move around
considering their size. Keep attacking
them until they parry you. Once parried,
jump away to avoid their claw attack.
They also do charge attacks, so jump away
to avoid. When they climb the walls, chances
are they're going to shoot a web that'll
bind you. Run far away to avoid, but if
you get caught, either activate Devil
Trigger (Dante will break free immediately)
or keep smashing all buttons quickly to
break free. With Vergil, spam Spiral
Swords as you attack with his melee
weapons. |
|
|
|
Dullahan
The possessed husk of a knight's suit
of armor. Its adamantine shell makes it
virtually impervious to frontal attack.
Its only weak spot being its hindquarters.
|
 |
 |
 |
First
appearance: Mission 10
Strategy:
Follow up behind them and attack
their backs only. Helm Breaker (vertical
slash) is highly recommended. With Vergil,
use Yamato's Aerial Rave. In
Vergil's mode where they appear again
without floating, wait till they charge
at you with their spinning shield, get
away and around their back, then slash
until it shatters. |
|
|
|
Soul
Eater
Spiritual remnants of the rage of murdered
demons have pooled together to create
this beast. This creature paralyzes its
prey before feasting upon its soul.
|
 |
 |
 |
First
appearance: Mission 11
Strategy:
These appear only when you face
your backs at them. Deliberately face
your backs at them, and once they appear
to charge at you, shoot madly. Shooting
will slow down their charge but once they
get close to you, roll away and continue
shooting. They have short lives and should
die in a number shots, or if you use Kalina
Ann, it should die in 1 shot. If they
grab and hang you in the air, activate
Devil Trigger or smash all buttons quickly
to break free. With Vergil, face your
back at them, lock on to them, jump (and
keep jumping), and shoot as you jump.
Unlike Dante, Vergil is capable of shooting
backwards, so you will
hit them. |
|
|
|
The
Fallen
A demon who fell from grace for lying
and deceiving its victims. Her beautiful
wings close to form an invincible shield.
Her open belly is her only weakness. |
 |
 |
 |
First
appearance: Mission 15
Strategy:
First, you have to remove their
protective wings. One advice - don't jump
too much. They fly all over the place
but don't bother chasing them down too
much. They will come to you eventually.
Once they get down to your level, keep
slashing them with the Triangle button
(keep left analog neutral). Don't be too
worried about getting slashed cause' the
moment you hit them they will stop attacking
(except for when they swing their swords).
They swing their long swords around very
often, so once again do not jump about
too much. Due to their height, as long
as you stay low, their swords will not
hit you so get right by and just keep
attacking. The only times you NEED to
jump away is when they thrust their sword,
or throw their sword at you from the air
to cause an explosion. Note that they
do recover their wings. With Vergil, abuse
Aerial Rave, although you will
have to be careful not to get hit when
they swing their swords. |

|
Abyss
Lives at the deepest level of the netherworld.
During times of war, this high ranking
demon knows only victory. His magic-imbued
sickle has ended many a hero's life. |
 |
 |
 |
First
appearance: Mission 17
Strategy:
Avoid and attack. Be careul,
they will always flip back immediately
to slash you if you throw them back with
thrust moves like Stinger/Straight. |
