Dante - Vergil battle 2 (M13)

Preferred style: Trickster
  1. Vergil's newfound martial art combo begins with 2 ground kicks followed by a 2-hit air kick (Rising Sun) and a downward thrust kick (Starfall). Whenever he starts his combo, double jump away from him (make sure you're higher than him when in mid-air). Keep shooting in the air until he lands on the ground, then do a Helm Breaker and spray your kick-ass combos at him.

  2. After hitting him a couple of times, chances are he'll parry you. If parried, double jump away again, shoot in mid-air, Helm Breaker when Vergil's busy recovering and keep the pattern going. At this point of the battle he won't attack you with anything else but martial arts. (Remember that Vergil makes a grunt right before he parries.)

  3. Once you take down about 30% of his life, Vergil will for the first time in the game turn into his own devil form (DT). Vergil in DT is danger so keep away from him until you find the right moment to counter (when he's recovering from a move). Once taken a few hits, he will turn back into human form. Use DT if you're not confident in evading his moves.

  4. In DT, Vergil will continue to use his martial art combos. Sometimes, he also teleports into the air at a random location and do a Starfall. Double jump away from all of those, otherwise, guard with Royalguard or Dash/Sky Star with Trickster. Note that in DT, like Dante, Vergil also restores his life.

  5. Once his life goes down to about 40%, Vergil will perform Judgement Cut, just like in Vergil Battle 1. Counter him as he's busy doing it. A few more repeats of all the above should do it.

        [Dante Must Die mode]
  1. The beginning is the same as Normal mode, so use the same strategy. (Again, I highly recommend Beowulf) What changes is after he goes into DT. This time, like in Vergil Battle 1, he will perform Summoned Swords so stay far away.

  2. There're 3 ways he does this. One, the swords circle you and then shoot at you altogether at once the moment they stop swirling, so jump away. Two, the swords circle you and then shoot at you one by one. Three, the swords shoot at you one by one directly from Vergil's side. Jumping/Dashing (Trickster) should work, but don't worry too much if you get hit; they don't hurt much. (OMG!)

  3. The point is to attack Vergil in human form, but he goes into DT state in this battle pretty often. To return him back to human form, hit/counter him as much as you can. If you're not confident in evading his moves, use DT. I recommend using Stinger (Rebellion) and Killer Bee (Beowulf) to counter him whenever you can.

  4. Also, it’s good to activate DT when you think you’re going to get hit by a drastic move. It’ll help lots in reducing damage.

  5. Eventually Vergil will, again, perform perform Judgement Cut, so by all means evade them all and counter him while he's still at it. If you're real good at Royalguard, then by all means guard them all, including all other Vergil's attacks. Of course, this is way easier said than done.
