Favorite Bleach Boys! (Some yaoi involved!)
It's a surprise to myself that I'm writing about Bleach. I diss the series cos' of the horrible story development all the time but I still and always adore my favorite characters in it. I stopped reading/watching Bleach for about one and a half year but I recently picked it up again thanks to a trigger set off by a new friend that I met at the local figurine store. He was buying Bleach "bubblegum cards" (kinda like plastic bookmarks) when I asked him what those were. After he explained, I got tempted to get the card for Grimmjow but because each card is packeted and they are entirely random, I ended up having to buy 10 packets before I was lucky enough to get Grimmjow. Fortunately though, in those 10 tries I got other characters like GIN and Aizen as well so it wasn't too much of a loss. <3
In the end, these cards resparked the Bleach craze and I couldn't help but recontinue the series (manga only, although I did watch the Ichigo vs Grimmjow anime episodes). I even went as far as to buy volume #32 of the manga even though I don't buy/collect manga anymore, all for Grimmjow. x_X Man I miss the dude... T__T (I miss Gin too, but at least he's still affirmatively alive!)
Anyway, needless to say, the story is still bad as I remember. It's practically non existent. I read through 70 chapters and caught up with the latest chapter #375 and yet the story has not progressed at all...!! @_@! How do you do that?! 100 chapters ago Ichigo and friends set off to save Orihime. 100 chapters later they are still fighting boss after boss to save Orihime. WTF is Aizen doing?!? Laying gold eggs!?!
Clearly, there's nothing to comment about the story so I'll skip it and jump to the good stuff =D Listed below are my favorite Bleach characters (and some rants of course), and those listed in pairs are my favorite pairings <3333

Ichimaru Gin & Aizen Sousuke
My favorite here is Gin; he's been my #1 favorite in Bleach since the moment he first appeared and he still keeps that position, except Grimmjow kinda joined his rank. The reason why Aizen's name is here with Gin is because well... obviously he's his boyfriend/husband! XD Mwahahaha! These two are so perfect for each other they're inseparable. Both are cunning and unpredictable, evil and mytsterious. They're prolly the type who'd backstab anyone, even each other. XD I love Gin's Kansai dialect and his 'mischievous' personality which contrasts with the creepiness he gives with his eternal foxy grin. As for Aizen... he's got one of the hottest to-die-for voices ever in the Japanese voice acting industry - Hayami Sho. <333 I also have a thing for characters with the "soft and flowy all-back" hairstyle, so Aizen's an immediate thumbs up. Together, they make my #1 favorite pairing in Bleach. KyaaAAaa!!!

Grimmjow & Ulquiorra
My favorite here is Grimmjow and I think that's been said a looong time ago. I became mad about him some time after he first appeared in the series but I've forgotten why and how that happened. LOL But if I were to guess, I'm thinking it's solely his looks. Like I said, I have a thing for "soft and flowy all-back" hairstyle and his eyes are just sexxxyyy! He's one of those "Grrr Snarrrrl Grrrrr" characters (e.g. Albert Wesker), has zero character development/depth and doesn't make sense half the time but still I just can't help but love him!! T__T!! He's just toooo hot to let go! I'm such a hopeless fangirl ain't I. XD As for Ulquiorra, like Aizen, his name is here cos' he's Grimmy's boyfriend (he's top btw XD). I like him too of course. He's somewhat different from the other Bleach characters. He has the emo look but turns out he's not actually emo. He's just serious and highly obedient towards Aizen. His voice is also surprisingly deep and assertive for a "boy" character like him, and that is so awesome. That's why to be fair, I must say that Ulquiorra is better/cooler in character than Aizen, but Aizen x Gin is still my #1 Bleach pairing. ^w^

Madarame Ikkaku & Ayasegawa Yumichika
I found myself liking these two quite a long time after their first appearance in the series. Naturally, Ikkaku (the 'baldie' XD) is not the type of character a fangirl would typically fall for at first sight (neither is Yumichika in all his effeminate glory). It was only after a long time did I finally find him fun/cute cos' where there's Ikkaku there's Yumichika, and the two of them make a fun and adorable pair (they're practically canon). <333 Ikkaku is a simpleton who likes to fight, Yumichika is playful and vain. Put these two together in Yaoiland and you'll get a duck bickering at a chicken. It's awesome. 'Nuff said.

Kyouraku Shunsui & Ukitake Juushirou
These two are like the sweet pair. My favorite here is Shunsui but well, he doesn't mean too much alone so he's gotta come with Ukitake. =D It helps a LOT that they used to go to shinigami school (LOL) together and were close friends since. (Kyaaa!!) Shunsui is a laid back dude with a 'thing' for his vice captain (female subordinate) and a love for sake while Ukitake is a friendly-to-all, kind and caring yet physically sick and weak man. Hmm.... this calls for some romantic drama =D Would Ukitake be jealous of the attention Shunsui gives the girl? Would he do anything about it? Would Shunsui notice it? Or did he do put up the flirtatious front on purpose? >=D I sure hope soul society is a free society. XD

Stark
Stark is a lot similar to Shunsui. They even almost look alike. XD He's laid back and almost lazy, preferring to skip or avoid a fight if possible regardless of being on the side of the villains, and the best part is - he's lonely (this is not my opinion, this is a fact in the series!). So this is where I now go... aaaauuuuww!! Sadly, I ain't got a boyfriend for him cos' he's not close or in anyway 'related' to the other characters. The only "person" he's got is a little girl called Lilynette, which in fact is a part of himself which he divided himself into so that doesn't work. >_>;

Urahara Kisuke
Everyone likes Urahara. He's kind of like the Bleach equivalent of Shanks from One Piece. He's a goodie yet at the same time he's mysterious. He rarely fights but he hides a lot of potential. He shadows his eyes with his hat 90% of the time but he doesn't give people the cold or death glare. He's also very cute/pretty without his hat. ^_^

Zaraki Kenpachi
Da man of men, sort of (if not for some personal yaoi reasons). =D Bleach fanboys should/would love him by default. Zaraki is Bleach's #1 battle lover and lives for the sheer thrill of it. Pretty typical, I know, but he's still awesome. It's not everyday you see a man with a headload of pointy hair with bells attached at the ends. He's a fearless and confident fighter but never arrogant nor a sore loser. Contrary to his intimidating appearance, he always carries a little girl (the vice captain) on his shoulder and they are both direction illiterate. XD

Kuchiki Byakuya
Every fangirl's favorite. All he has to do is stand still and look pretty and all the girls would spend their hearts and money for him. Long hair, pretty face, long scarf, deep Okiayu Ryoutarou voice... it'll take a miracle (for a girl) to dislike him. So yes I like him, though not half as madly as those I have pairings for, and this brings in the question "Why isn't he paired up with someone, oh almighty yaoi goddess?" Well, I can only think of Renji x Byakuya as far as Byakuya pairings go but Renji... he gets on my nerves sometimes. -_- He started off as attractive but he's now kind of annoying, especially when he gets loud and acts awkward. There are other reasons too but since this is not Renji's corner I'm just gonna end it here. ^^;

Hirako Shinji
The one and only other kansai dude! His hair may be LOL but he's got a special kind of charisma that feels like it comes only with wisdom and experience (even if he doesn't look it! XD), the kind that makes a good leader. I still remember how I used to think/wonder/suspect if he was blood-related to Gin cos' of their uncanny resemblance (Gin closes his eyes most of the time but if you look close enough they are very similar) as well as the kansai dialect they both speak in. I had all these theories about the two, arrancars and vaizards but well... it seems that I was a lot more creative than Kubo could manage. *Siggghh*

Chad (Sado Yasutora)
My first favorite when I started watching this series back in 2004. Only 4 episodes were out then and there were only so few characters to choose from. Ichigo never caught my attention, but Chad did. =D I like his design, emo hair and all but Chad is prolly like the most neglected character of all time in Bleach. =/ I wanna see more of him but at the same time I'm sure not if he has any role/meaning left in the story at all (not that he had much to begin with). His presence in the series is starting to feel more like an obligation on the author's end just cos' he's not dead and the protagonist's friend is not allowed to die (by the law of shounen manga anyway). |
