22nd July 2006, Saturday

Holy moly! It's been nearly a month since I last updated! Mwahahaha! Now where haven't we heard that before? =P Well, it's been a month... and I suppose some things happened here and there but nothing really is worth mentioning 'cept for the usual... O_o Oh well, there are a few things. I'll just randomly start with one that's most memorable.

So, it was exactly 7 days ago from today when me and 2 friends, Leslie and Nhu, went canoeing. Yes, canoeing!!! WOOOOT!!! Cat is actually doing something OUTDOORS!! WOWOWOOWW!!! HOLY GOD!!! Anyway, it was damn fun!! ^__^! Will so do it again!! It wasn't exactly the type of 'canoeing' I had in mind, since it seems that no one had any idea what the image I had in my mind was. I've canoed 2 or 3 times a few years back, but I swear the 'thing' we ride on is tiny. It's like this... slim surf board look-alike thing. It's so small you sit over it with your legs sticking out over the sides, a third of your legs in the water. I remember people calling it kayaking, but the kayaks here don't look like it either, so er... I have no idea why. But anyway, me and my friends rented one canoe and canoed together, the three of us. The entire experience was so fun and funny at the same time!!

It didn't take a few minutes before we all got used to paddling and moving the canoe without unbalancing it. However, I MUST say that we aren't good at keeping it going in one direction. =P We just couldn't move forward only. The way we paddle, the canoe goes forward in a meandering manner, turning left and right and hitting grassy areas of the swamp, sometimes even the banks. Hahaha!! I so can't forget how much I laughed at our own performance. Pathetic, you may say, but I say it was so fun, and FUNNY. =P

The water was very clean, and it was very still too, great for beginners (for me, at least) like us. The day started out somewhat cloudy, but when we started canoeing at around noon, the sun came up behind the clouds, bit by bit. At first it was not too warm, but in about 15 mins we could so feel the heat. We stopped paddling for abit and just rested and chatted and such. I dipped my feet into the water and OMG!!! It felt SOOO GOOOOD!!! It wasn't too cold and it quickly cooled off my burning feet. Wooo~~!! After that we continued our journey (LOL) into this narrow creek where we bumped the canoe into the banks once every 30 seconds. Hahaha!

We kept going deeper into the creek, and it actually felt really great cos' by then there were tall grasses, rotting trees and such. =P It was the 'wilderness', the marsh area, really. =P Lots of small flying insects (not gross tho'), and blue dragonflies. I so wished we could keep going but er, at one point (pic on the right above) there were too many obstacles (like fallen logs) in the waters and we doubted we could go any further. So we had no choice but to turn back where we came from and explore the other side of this 'resevoir'.

This other side of the resevoir is out and open. No trees, no nothing. Just us on the canoe, some motor boats and the damn blue sky. It was FREAKING HOT!!! It felt like a hint telling us it's time to go dip in the water. So we looked around trying to find where there's a good shore that's shallow enough. We found one that's cemented, meaning no mud and grass to deal with. YES!! So we got offshore, pulled the canoe up and went right in the water! Coolness~~!!! The water's not cold like it is by the coast, so it was totally tolerable temperature and it felt oh so great. =D Then we had a girls' talk and dipped around somemore for about an hour or so.

Three hours. That was how long we were out there canoeing and dipping. So fun ^_^ At around 3pm, we decided to go back and return the canoe. Since we all shared the canoe, we each only had to pay 1/3 of the price, which was really worth it. After that, we went to Olive Garden for lunch, or dinner, whatever you call a meal at around 4pm. =P Fun times, don't you think, Leslie and Nhu? =P And oh, thanks to Nhu for these pictures. Hope you don't mind I put up pictures with the two of you in it too. =)

So, topic #1 is officially finished. Next, I suppose I should just shortly mention that er... for the first time in my life I'm working fulltime. Don't ask me what type of work it is, but I'll just say at the moment it's pretty simple and fun work, just nice for someone like me =) I'm only given this work for 2 months, but they say they'll see what they need for the following term. If I'm lucky who knows I still get to keep the job. It feels so weird to not be able to call myself a student anymore, really weird. It's the same as not being able to call myself a kid. Being a kid is great... too great. >_< Oh well, it is part of a human's 'ritual' (life) to grow up, but er... sometimes it's nice to think/wish/hope ya know...? ^_^" *Goes into hiding*

Ok next! (LOL) Back to games.... XP Don't hit me! It's just so wrong if I don't go back to this topic! You should be doubting you're talking to CaT or that CaT is writing this entry if nothing of games is mentioned at all! (LOL)

Anyway, I guess I should start with Metal Gear Solid. I was playing MGS2, as most should have known. I finished easy and normal mode, and then I actually started hard mode. I mostly play games only on normal mode and once finished I'll hardly ever touch the game again (except for DMC3 and RE4), but MGS2 was pretty fun so I ended up TRYING to play hard mode. I thought I was doing not too bad too, for someone who's SO bad at the MGS series, but then I got stuck at this one point. It was the Harrier battle (plane battle). I seriously just don't know what to do. I didn't retry enough times on my part but I was quite annoyed at it myself, so I decided to give up. Mwahahaha! Don't I rock. =P It's just too annoying and sad to see myself get pummeled all the time. I make Raiden look so bad. T__T

And then! After giving up MGS2 hard mode, I went back to MGS3. =P I was finishing normal mode the last time I played it but I stopped after the battle against The Fury. I was hoping to replay that battle and beat him using the tranquilizer gun but er, I got unmotivated, so I stopped. Even now, I'm STILL too lazy to do that. So I just resumed from where I was and went on with the game. It didn't take too long to finish the game since I was near the end already, but I SOOO REMEMBER how ANNOYING it was against THE BOSS (last boss). OMG!!! I know I just plainly suck, but OMG!!! Becos' of that battle I SO hurt my right thumb! The skin peeled off and it hurts!! >_<! GAAH!! Damn The Boss!! If she weren't such a great character, a great woman, I'd so have screamed "BITCH!!" at her.

THIS, is The Boss. That's her codename, just in case anyone reading this doesn't know. She's THE MOST respectable, also the COOLEST and the MOST KICK ASS, woman character I've ever seen. Maybe some of you who have no idea would mistake her for a man, since she looks quite manly after all, but mind you, she is a woman with the heart of a mother. The most honorable patriot that'll ever exist anywhere. =) She is very strong (in combat skills) and SO kicks the ass of the game's protagonist. Even the antagonist fears getting on her bad side. Wanna see a few cutscenes of her kicking ass? Here you go:

1) Snake meets The Boss (2nd time)
2) Snake finished planting C3s
3) Snake disguises as Major Ivan

I'd have recorded a footage of my battle against her, but I suck so bad, it won't be fun to watch. ^_^" It'll be hard for you to see her clearly in battle anyway, since she's very well blended with the environment. Oh well, maybe next time =)

Next, I started, sort of, playing Devil Kings (the US version of Sengoku Basara) for a bit. I don't remember if I mentioned it in this blog before but Devil Kings have a number of changes, mostly additions, to the gameplay as compared to its Japanese version. Basically, they added more moves, more depth and raised the difficulty level up 3 notches. As someone who played the game starting with the Japanese version, I can distinctively feel the difference in difficulty between the 2 versions. The Japanese is ridiculously easy, while the English, in my opinion, is way hard. In the Japanese version, it is even possible to defeat a level in hard/extreme mode with a character who's entirely un-leveled (LV 1). In the English version, it is almost too hard to defeat a level in normal mode with a character who's equally un-leveled.

Graphics and all look the same (duhz), but the layout of things and some few graphics like the health bar, font etc are different. I think the Japanese version looks a lot more beautiful but in terms of gameplay, the English version is probably more fun (so long you are cool with the difficulty). Most of the English voices suck badly to the core, except for some few characters who surprisingly sound all right. The picture on the top left is Date Masamune, aka Azure Dragon in the English version, and he's my top favorite character in the game. Luckily, he is one of those whose voice is acceptable. (Phewz) Tyrone came to my place that day I was playing this game. He knows more than me how unfair this game can be. We tried playing normal mode with the characters and everytime we do, we fail, wasting all that time gathering experience only to lose it in the end. It's really annoying. It practically forces you to start on easy mode if you want to survive the level and actually GAIN the experience you earned. Problem with easy mode is that you're only given 70% of the experience points earned. =_= Cheap eh? I'm not planning to replay and finish this game. I only played it cos' I wanted to see the new moves they gained that don't exist in the Japanese version. I'd so record a few short footage when I can. =)

Now, we get to the anime/manga part of the topic. =) A few weeks back, I finally finished the DEATH NOTE manga series. It was TERRIFICALLY AWESOME!!! ^__^!!! As expected from the best series of anything I've ever seen!!!

For those who don't know what it's about, I'll just write a short summary/introduction. Basically, it's about this young Japanese boy, Raito, also a genius, who one day found this so-called 'death note'. There are instructions on how to use the death note inside it. It said "Anyone whose name is written in this book shall die." Raito first thought it was a joke, but out of curiosity, he tried it anyway and to his surprise, he found out that it was for real. Having attained such 'power', Raito had a vision. He thought about what could happen if he put the death note to use wisely. As a result, he ended up using it to kill everyone he thought was bad or evil, to help rid the world of useless and unwanted human beings so that he can create the perfect world in the name of justice through this revolution. Unfortunately for him, the police one day concluded that the surprising number of deaths (caused by heart attacks) may be the act of a mass murderer. This conclusion was brought about by one young detective/genius who've been working with police forces all over the world, but had never shown his real name nor face. Everyone calls him by his 'nickname' - L. L tried to provoke this 'killer' (aka Kira/Raito) by announcing his conclusion on TV news, and found out that Kira really could kill people 'magically' when Raito killed off the guy in that TV news program, thinking it was L himself. Since that day, the world's an intelligence battle between 2 young geniuses, both fighting for what they believe is justice.

This is a really short summary of the story. I excluded a lot of pretty important facts to make it short, or this summary will be way too long. I must say Death Note is REALLY THE BEST story of anything I've ever heard/seen. It's a suspense story, if you haven't noticed, also a psychological thriller. There's a lot of reading to be done, since it goes deep into analysis and stuff, but it's REALLY EXCITING. Those who've not read it, I seriously think you should give it a try. If you just hate reading, or if you hate trying to understand a complex story, or if you just want all-out bish-bash action like Naruto and Bleach, then don't read Death Note. But if you want what I call a TRUELY WORTHY OF A REPUTATION storyline, I say read it. I know some who said they got sick of it cos' it's boring. It's really sad to hear that, but I respect people's preferences. If suspense isn't your type, then don't bother. But otherwise, like I said, no one should miss out on Death Note. It's a revolutionary manga series. =)

From what I've read/heard/seen, Deathnote is SO popular it's actually coming out with a movie (that's altered here and there), an anime series (but of course), and even a PS2 game. Here is the trailer to the movie. It also summarizes the storyline as well.

As for anime, I actually watched and finished this weird, weird anime called Princess Princess. Not recommended, really, even to a yaoi fan, but er... =_= I don't understand myself how I was able to actually keep watching, cos I was weirded too O_o And then, I saw episode 15 and 16 to Ouran High School Host Club. I've got good and bad, mixed feelings about it. =_= Episode 15 was great. Ultimately great. It's currently my best favorite episode in the series. But then episode 16 scared me. >_<!!! I WON'T be able to forgive Hikaru (one of the twins) if he ever falls in love with Haruhi (the main girl). I REALLY REALLY would be PISSED if the story goes in that direction >_<!!! Damn..!!

Lastly, I started a new series recommended to me by a friend. In fact, my sister's the one who first told me about it but she said I prolly won't like it so I didn't try it. But that very night, my friend told me she thought I'd like it so I gave it a try, and hey, it's not bad after all =) That anime is Saiunkoku Monogatari. The moment I heard my friend said "The girl thought that the emperor is gay", I immediately thought of Fushigi Yuugi. Hahaha! Great memories with that anime, man. =P I've only seen 2 episodes so far, but it's all good =) I'm gonna watch the rest that are available right after this. Damn, you dunno how long it took me to update this blog entry!!! GAWRSSHH!!! O_O!!

28th June 2006, Wedesday

And so I finished Metal Gear Solid 2, twice. O_o A great game I say, altho' it's shorter than I expected. I really enjoyed it, even tho' it gave me a number of annoying/frustrating moments, especially since I'm so bad at this series. And so, inevitably, here's my review =P

  1. Graphics:
I think the graphics are great. Absolutely no complaints. Cutscene graphics are awesome, in my opinion, even though (if you're fussy) the lip moments/animation isn't too fantastic/accurate. Everything is real-time afterall, nothing rendered, so considering that I think it's impressive. =)
  2. Storyline:
Some parts of the story are not that hard to understand while most other parts are like "What the hell???" Seriously, I'm SO LOST in the overall, especially near the end where they threw in more than half an hour of cutscenes filled with sooo much information there's almost no time to possibly digest them and make sense out of it. However, from what I understand, the story is seemingly interesting. It may be complicated and confusing (most people think so), but it's still a good story. No MGS follower/gamer/fan will want to miss it.
  3. Gameplay:
I've reviewed MGS3 once and MGS2 is really another game that's much the same. I'm playing this series backwards so it may be awkward but I'll have no choice but to refer to the newer game which is MGS3.
    • Sneaking:
Unlike MGS3, the setting of this game is 90% indoor. There are way more narrow areas such as corridors, and bridges than vast areas of open space such as forests and outdoor camps. And unlike MGS3 Subsistence, you are not able to freely control the camera angle, hence making it harder to get a good view of enemies when around corners, especially. So, sneaking in such environments can be quite tricky and will require you to get used to the basic MGS sneaking techniques (for amateurs/first timers like me). Some of these techniques include crawling, hanging on railings, running past enemies while hidden in their blindspots (enemies have a scope of vision that is as far as to a certain distance depending on the mode you're playing) and destroying surveillance robots.
    • Nodes/Map/Radar:
You can say this is the one thing that makes up for the disability to freely control camera angle. I know there're many who'd say it's even better than free camera control. Like in MGS1, MGS2 provides you with this radar system which is equivalent to a real-time map, which shows you the map of the area you're in (a small section), where you stand, where enemies are, what direction they're facing/walking towards. This way, even without free camera control you can still plan where to go/how to sneak around. Problem is, to get a map of every area, you need to first access a node (a machine), so until then you will have to survive however way you can.
    • Weapons/Support Equipment:
There are a wide array of weapons and support equipment, as usual, but the thing is you can have any of them readily equipped at anytime, unlike in MGS3 where you can only have 8 readily equipped while the others are 'kept in the bag'. Also, a few good things different from MGS3 are that gun suppressors (silencers) are unlimited (will not wear out), and there's no need for battery when using support equipment, and there is infra red laser to help you with your aim for some guns. Altho', I must say the infra red laser doesn't always help me very well since there are situations where the red dot does not show up clearly and I can't get a good shot/aim and risk myself getting caught.
    • Other skills/abilities:
These skills are considered basic in the MGS series and are a must to know/learn. 1) Punch/Kick - Mashing the punch button will result in a few punches and a kick. The kick will knock an enemy over if hit. 2) Throw - Unlike MGS3, throwing an enemy knocks out the enemy only very occasionally. 3) Choke - Chokes an enemy to death after some struggle. 4) Holding up enemies - sneaking up from behind an enemy and holding your gun up in first person view will make him freeze. 5) Others...? I don't quite remember but yeah, there're a lot you can try and mess with =)
    • Digital Camera:
The digital camera is an item you can find near the end of the game, and also in MGS3. It does nothing but take pictures of anything you wish to take and you can save those pictures into your memory. It is something you can do for pure fun, or to make fun of enemies... etc Oh, using it to take pictures of certain things throughout the game may also unlock some stuff too =) If you replay the game using a complete save file, you will be able to use the digital camera right from the beginning of the game.
  4. Music:
AWESOME music!! It's just like MGS to create good and absolutely fitting music to the type of game it is. And I must admit the one track that made me realize this is this - Yell "Dead Cell". Good, good music all the way. =)
  5. Voice acting:
Fantastic voice acting, as usual, except for Raiden whose voice I'd rather sound more manly like it is in the Japanese version. Everyone who has an accent sounds great, better than the original Japanese. There is a HELL LOT of talking in this game so having great voices is an absolute good thing.
  6. Cutscenes:
This is the one serious thing in this game. It has SOOO MANY cutscenes and they're SOO LONG, you will seriously think that this is more a movie than ever a game. The ratio of cutscene time to gameplay time almost feels 50/50. Mind you, I LOVE watching cutscenes, but I think this one's really way too long and too much at some points. Not a bad thing exactly, per se, but it may eventually make you feel tired of it and lose concentration on watching the cutscenes/listening to what's being said.
25th June 2006, Sunday

Time sure flies past fast.... Before I knew it it's been a week since my graduation.... NAH. =.= Time flies past all right, but not that fast. =P Indeed it's been a whole week, but er... it's just a week... for now =P Hahaha. Okay well... the past 1 week I've been spending the days with my mom and grandma until they left on Saturday, 2 days ago. I spent time with them, but I must admit we didn't do much. It's not like there's anything we can do in Eugene... O_o I stayed over at my sister's place all those days and what we do mostly is watch TV. O_o... Animal Planet... Hell yeah! =P I actually think I overwatched it too, hahahaa! But the real best thing is the FOOD. It's been a long time since I last ate my grandma's cooking, and it sure was heaven to be able to eat it again!! ^_^! But then I felt bad for them cos I don't think they had fun, not really. Well, they've been here a number of times and there really isn't anything we can do... unless I can drive them up to Portland or something but I can't O_o... So yes... I suppose you can say it's my fault? T_T.....

Well, here are the photos I have after taking them in the studio. They're scanned from the actual photo, hence the grainy/low quality look. I could attain the actual digital photos but er... they're written on the receipt or something that's put into an envelope and I think my mom has it.. O_o' Oh well.. There're other graduation pics from the ceremony but again they're in my mom's digital camera =.=" So well, when I get them somehow I'll post them =)

I don't like the photos very much... but... well... got no choice. I didn't even put on make up or anything, which I actually planned on doing cos I don't wanna look bad, but I LOOK BAD in them =.= Too late for regrets now.

And so that's that. Next, er... I must thank Ethereal for telling me how to load on to Disc 2 for the Emulator Parasite Eve. Thanks to that now I'm finally able to continue the game and beat it! ^_^ I beat it a few hours back and it was quite fun =) The ending was somewhat weird tho' and I suppose that's the reason why there is a Parasite Eve 2 =) As much as I'd like to play it I can't find the ISO to download so I can't... for now. Maybe in the future I can find it...?

Now that Parasite Eve is over with, my next stop is Metal Gear Solid 2 which I started at my sister's place with my mom and grandma watching. O_o Mwahahaha!! It was so funny!! They were actually watching me play and I must say it was pretty fun regarding what they say/ask me about the game as I played =P My grandma even laughed at some parts which were funny enough =P (She doesn't understand English btw) I'm never good at the MGS series so it took me forever to even finish the tanker mission. In fact, I had to replay it on Easy mode for me to pass or I'll forever be stuck at Olga's battle ^^" *SIGH* Oh well... But hey, ever since I played that game my everlasting love for Raiden grew again! Mwahahhahaa!! I haven't gotten to play him for like 10 mins before I was forced to stop playing (and I haven't continued since then) so I'm currently quite excited about using him =) It's always nice to have a character as your source of motivation =P

15th June 2006, Friday

Well, it's been a while since I last updated... again ^^" I forgot what happened 'cept for a few things here and there but nothing's that exciting or interesting anyway =P So er... where should I start...

I guess the first thing to mention is that I'm actually graduating tomorrow =.= G.r.a.d.u.a.t.i.n.g. This is scary, dude, SCARY. I can't believe I'm graduating!! It felt like yesterday when I was still in middle school fooling around!!! Damn!! Just hate to think about the future.... that's the kind of person I am. Can't help it. O_o And cos' it's my graduation, my mom and grandma came to the US too! ^_^!!! They're staying at my sister's place since my place has no bed/extra room for them, plus, it's not a place a normal human can live in. *Rolls eyes* =P Oh well... I'm so not looking forward to it O_o' The graduation walk and shit... it's just a hassle in my opinion.

The second thing is something everyone already knows, at least I think so. My freaking computer got a load of freaking spyware and viruses one day and since I'm a dumbass I got tricked and cheated by those stuff and spent $90 on fake anti-virus programs, which are later detected by SpyBot to BE the spyware =.= Holy Jesus. What is the world coming to? Why?? WHY can't people live in peace and harmony without tricks and cheats!??!! GAAAHH!! I called th credit card company (altho' my card really is a debit card) to see what they can do to help me. They explained something I don't quite understand but I just said "OK, OK" anyway and pretended like I did understand =.= I just hope they would gimme back my money =.= I hope they did, cos' I still haven't checked my balance yet.

Third thing... I suppose in one way or another the topic's gonna have to change into the usual =P Got the hint? Well, whatever. Thing is, 3 days ago or so I downloaded a PSX emulator along with one game - Parasite Eve. It's an 1998 game by Squaresoft, under the genre action RPG and, I think, horror...? It's not scary tho', not really. It was a little bit creepy in the beginning but after 30 minutes everything feels more action than horror. O_o Altho' an old game now, it is still interesting enough for me to want to play it =D Bad news is, that game has 2 discs (if played on a real PSX), hence 2 game files for the emulator, but when I got to the end of disc 1 and the game asks for me to load disc 2, I dunno how that's to be done on the emulator since it won't allow me to load disc 2 right from disc 1. I know it sounds complicating but... in short, I dunno how to continue on to disc 2 on the emulator, so I'm stuck. I finished disc 1 and wanna continue on to finish the game but I can't O_o' It's ridiculous. But anyway, I've played enough to be able to write a general review of the game, again =P I know it's old and no one really cares for old games' reviews but it's still fun to write it out =P

  1. Graphics:
Pretty typical/standard for PS1 graphics but it's still good. It is very similar to FF7's style of graphics (after all they're done by the same company), only with proportional character bodies =) CGI cutscenes are, again, very similar to FF7 and are pretty enjoyable. No complaints from me.
  2. Storyline:
I didn't get to finish the entire game since I'm stuck at the end of disc 1 and can't/dunno how to proceed using the emulator as it's asking for me to load disc 2 and I have no idea how that's done. However, so far the story's pretty good. It's about this mutated/posessed lady called Eve who kills masses of innocent people by igniting them, yet the protagonist, a female NYPD officer by the name of Aya Brea, is totally unaffected. Very soon you learn that Aya is 'special' and is biologically similar to Eve and that they may be related. Throughout the game, you play as Aya who's trying to track Eve down and stop/terminate her.
  3. Gameplay:
    • RPG/Action:
I used to say Kingdom Hearts was the perfect example of a half RPG/Action, but I was wrong. THIS is one. The battle system is seriously half RPG and real-time action. The RPG aspects include a time gauge, using curing/status-healing spells and leveling up. The real-time action aspects include running around to dodge enemy attacks and attacking from a certain required distance. This actually comes as a pretty interesting and fun system and I presume that most people will find it enjoyable.
    • Annoying aspects:
Although the system is fun, there are a few annoying things about it. First, when you enter a battle, invisible 'walls' or 'barriers' will keep you stuck in a certain area/field regardless how big the original area seems to be. You cannot tell where the invisible barriers are and it's highly common for you to run into one without realizing it, get stopped since you can't run any further, then get attacked by enemies while trying to run away from them. Second, when you realize you bump into an invisible barrier and want to get away by running towards a different direction, bigger enemies can easily trap you in that corner (between a real wall and the invisible wall) so that you can't get away from them and then get hit continuously. Third, 90% of the battlefields are small rooms which are made even smaller by the invisible barriers that form when you enter a battle. In these small rooms you will most likely be fighting 2~4 enemies at once, and running away from them or their attacks sometimes seems pretty impossible, or very tedious.
    • Upgrading weapons:
To upgrade weapons, you need to combine 2 guns to form a stronger gun. And to combine anything you will need a tool item. Tools can be found in places throughout the game but many are hidden/hard to find so failing to do this will result in weak stats, which means the game will progressively become harder and harder. There is also this 'mod permit' or 'trading card' item which you can use to tune up your gun but I am still lost as to what they do to your weapon since I don't see an increase in stats.
    • Bonus points:
You get bonus points every time you level up. The less you get hit, the more bonus points you get. Bonus points can be used to increase your stats such as 'waiting time' (time gauge), number of items slots and weapon stats. 100 bonus points is required to upgrade anything once. Now, the problem is if you are not a very good gamer, you will be getting hit often hence getting less bonus points, hence unable to increase your stats. Bottom line? The weak gamer gets weaker while the strong gets stronger O_o Not a very friendly thing unless not being very strong still can get you past the stages/game without having to struggle like mad as if it's a sort of punishment. O_o
  4. Music:
I don't know if it's becos of the emulator or if it's how the music really sounds like but it's pretty bad. It's SOOOO MIDI (FF7 was midi too but it was GOOD) and repetitive and has very few variety. They could have done a lot better for the music, if they can be bothered.
  5. Horror:
I don't even know if this game's really under the horror genre at all but I thought it is. After playing it, though, I do think it's not focused very much on the horror factor since I don't remember coming across more than some few 'scary moments'. It was a little creepy in the beginning but after that was all. It's not a bad thing but for those hoping for more horror this may not satisfy them very much.
