Q1:
Where are you from exactly?
I was born in Indonesia but I grew up in Singapore since I was 5 as my parents
sent me there to study. Cos' of that I hardly ever use the Indonesian
language anymore and I can now barely speak it. When I was 17 I went to the US for my college studies and graduated Spring 2006. Currently, I'm back in Singapore, finally settled (or so I hope).
Q2: Who is
closest to you in your family?
I would say my sister. I was a lot younger, it was two younger cousins
of mine, one boy one girl. Q3:
What was your childhood like in Singapore?
During primary school, the most enjoyable memories were the times
I spent with my younger cousins. As kids, we loved to create original characters and we had fun role playing them. My guy cousin was also the one who 'introduced'
me to fighting games and got me obsessed as well. =P Unfortunately during Secondary
school, me and my guy cousin grew distant.
Later I also got a guy and the rest of those years was
mainly just me and him. Unsurprisingly, we were both crazy bout
games and... yeah... at least one third of my childhood was all games.
^^"
Q4: So what
game was it you're so crazy of?
It started with the Street Fighter series back in primary school,
but by the start of Secondary school, nothing beats King of
Fighters.
Q5: You seem bloody obsessed with YAOI. Can you explain this?
Mwahahahaha!!! It's true. There's NO one day I don't think about
yaoi. I first learnt about it 'accidentally' on the internet back
when I was 14. Sweeeet memories. =P I was pretty into Gundam Wing
back then cos' it was really the first anime I watched since I was
4. So I looked around the internet for pictures and stuff and came
upon the word 'fanfiction'. I had no clue what that was but I clicked
on it anyway, and a list of links appeared. So I clicked on one
of the links and realized it was a page full of text, and I read
it. Then I found out it's just a story, so I kept reading until
I was confused about who this character is cos' I couldn't tell
if it was a guy or girl. Later I saw this warning in bold red -
WARNING: YAOI!! Well, wth does that mean? So I clicked on it and
read that fanfiction and I thought it was way weird. Later, on that
same homepage I saw the definition of yaoi and it finally clicked
in my head. Before that happened though, I SO remember calling my
friend to ask "Hey, is Duo gay???" MWAHAHAHAHA!!! OMG!!!
He was like "What?? Where the hell did you get that??"
Hahahaha!! Man... now that I think of it it was SO DAMN FUNNY!!
Anyway, so that was the beginning of it all. I wasn't
disgusted, I was drawn into it instead and I couldn't stop reading more
of such fanfictions. Later when I was 15 and had my first website,
I met a female visitor who was also a King of Fighters fan. She
had her own website as well and I took a look at it. It was based on a
yaoi manga and after reading some of her fanfictions,
I got interested myself. One random day, I was in a comic shop
randomly looking around for that series thinking that they can't impossibly
have it when I actually found it. I was head over heels and I bought as
many as I could afford immediately. That became my very first yaoi manga.
Eventually, I got obsessed with more and more manga and my collection grew. In the end, I
started associating practically everything with yaoi, especially anime, manga and games.
That obsession never ended, as I'm still very much obsessed right here right now.
Q6: What
places have you been to?
There is no saying for this but I am pretty sure it's common for a person to only appreciate or learn to enjoy travelling after they're old enough to have the finances for it. I am one of those people. I wasn't fond of travelling as a teenager; I even whined when I was sponsored to go for a 6-week holiday in the US and a 2-week one in Mauritius. Now I'm finally at that age where I can sort of appreciate travelling but it's still not cheap and I can be really darn lazy to plan for itineraries. Chronologically, I've only been to Indonesia, Singapore (duh), Malaysia, USA, Mauritius, New Zealand and Japan. If money is of no concern, I'd like to go to Florida for their roller coasters.
Q7: Do you
have a lot of friends?
Not really. I have a number of acquaintances but I don't have more than 5 friends whom I actually meet and hang out in person.
I'm still in confact with several online friends that I made 10 years ago via Devil's Lair though. Oh man it's been that long. XD
Q8: Explain
your obsession with virtual guys Vs real guys.
I used to idolize some Japanese celebrities but it didn't
last long cos' it seems that I can only be obessesed with
virtual dudes. They come in all types of ideals and styles, free for you to pick and adore based on your own preference. With virtual characters, it is not surprising for someone to have more than one favorite character with different style/nature/type. At the same time, what you like seeing in virtual characters is not necessarily what you'd like in a real guy (for a real relationship), cos' as far as I'm concerned there is a very thick line between virtuality and reality. I'll never mix/confuse the two together.
The other reason why I lean towards virtual dudes is because I associate yaoi with them. I don't do that with real people cos' real people are either straight or gay/bi by fact. You don't/can't come up with various stories and fantasies (slash) when you already know for a fact that the boy/man you fancy in a yaoi relationship is straight. Virtual characters, games, anime and such are fictional and yaoi is fictional which is why it works best in a virtual environment.
