Quicksilver

In addition to all the Damned enemy series that you've encountered so far, the Damned Queen and King will also appear in the first battle. There''ll be a total of 16 enemies in the Chess Battle and considering their numbers, Quicksilver should help you with evasion and increase your hit accuracy.

Devil Arms #1: Nevan Devil Arms #2: Beowulf
Guns #1: Ebony & Ivory Guns #2: Kalina Ann

Both the Damned Chessmen and Fallens are tough enemies that are risky to attack at close range. That is when Nevan would come in good use considering its ability to attack from afar even as a melee weapon. Combine it with Beowulf for close range attacks along with the handguns and rocket launcher and you would be balanced enough to make this battle easier. Against the many bosses later, you can always switch your equipment at a nearby Divine Statue.

Target the King!

The chess battle works like a real chess game. Killing of fthe King means killing the rest of the enemies. To reduce time consumption, go for the King as soon as you can. The King switch places with a Rook each time you hit it, but it will stop doing so after a while. When that happens, activate Quicksilver and defeat the King ASAP.

Avoid unnecessary battles!

The 2 Fallens in the Road to Despair make it really hard for you to beat them. Not only do they have high HP, they also wander off to where you can't reach them. Fortunately, they are entirely optional and you can simply run past them.

Get S rank point #3

Leave no red orbs behind!

There are few chances for you to earn red orbs in this mission so make sure to pick up all that you can, including the red orb crystal along the Road to Despair. During the chess battle, also take out the Pawns for their red orbs before the King is activated

Choose the shortest route for the shortest time!

To clear the Lost Souls Nirvana area, you'll need to form a circle on the huge piece of tablet you find there. The shortest route would be Cerberus + Beowulf + Agni & Rudra. Though they may be strong, they're the fastest way to clear the area to obtain a rank S for time.

Select the appropriate styles!

If you're going by the shortest route, you might want to choose swordmaster for style for its many close-range attacks. For devil arms, Rebellion and Cerberus should be handy since Rebellion is effective against most enemies and Cerberus is useful for separating Agni & Rudra from their swords.

Are you stuck?

Discover secret mission #12!

In the Road to Despair, walk over the edge to the left of the giant stone feet where the mirror floats above and follow the 3 red orbs to the end. You will need Trickster to clear this secret mission.

Do not forget #2

Grab the blue orb fragment!

To obtain this blue orb fragment, you'll need to defeat ALL the bosses in the Lost Souls Nirvana.

Hard mode

The difficulty is higher but the number of enemies remain the same. Enemies also grow more offensive so it will be harder to get by without a scratch.

Dante Must Die mode

Naturally, everything gets increasingly hard in DMD. Enemies have the same attack patterns but there is absolutely no room for carelessness. It is also recommended that you select the best weapons with the best attributes against your enemies.

Heaven or Hell mode

As usual, hit them before they hit you. For this the handguns are a definite must. You may also want to consider only the bosses that aren't tricky to hit like Doppelganger.
