-
The battle starts with
Arkham dropping onto the ground from air.
Attack him with your melee weapons. Jump
when he attempts to swipe an arm at you. Yamato's
Aerial Rave + Spiral Swords
is recommended.
-
After he receives a number
of hits, he will turn gold (and later
on red) and release 'spikes' that kind
of trails after you. Jump away as best as you can
from them.
-
Steps 1 and 2 will repeat
until he disappears into the ground shortly
after.
-
Now his so-called Legions
will appear, a lot of them. Luckily, with
Vergil they are easier to deal with. Three
words - abuse Summoned Swords.
They are highly reliable and they kill the
Legions fast. Keep jumping and shooting
to stay safe. Rapid Slash
is also an option.
-
After some time, regardless
whether you killed all the Legions, Arkham
will reappear so go back to him and repeat
the above 4 steps. Any remaining Legion will attempt to hinder
you, so you may want to finish them off
first.
-
After finishing half of
Arkham’s life, you’ll get
into the second part of the battle. This
time, you’ll have Vante assist you but
in exchange, DT and the Circle button (for Style)
are disabled. The Circle
button is now used to call Vergil
to your side, which you probably won't find useful for the most part.
-
You start this second
part of the battle a little distance away
from Arkham, so shoot Summoned
Swords as you approach
him. Vante is practically like
Doppelganger with Dante. He will do exactly
what you do, except for Summoned Swords,
which he will perform other moves in place
of it.
-
Arkham now gains a new
attack. If you are too close, he may grab
you with an arm and squeeze the life out
of you. This move damages a lot and the
only way to save yourself is to call Vante
to your side using the Circle button (you may need to press it a few times)
and accurately hitting Arkham’s
arm to release you. To avoid even getting
grabbed, I recommend that you play safe
(for the harder modes) and keep shooting
Summoned Swords at him from a
distance. Vante will do the slashing
for you.
